Stories from around the world

We launched our YouTube channel with a wonderful collaboration with James Madison University to tell the world the stories of olive oil women. This successful project is led by Claudia Veysel.

By WIOO Team (Feb. 15)

In collaboration with James Madison University (JMU), Women in Olive Oil (WIOO) launched its official YouTube channel in February 2021. US media relations and WIOO member Claudia Hanna Veysel is a member on the faculty at JMU, a premier public institution in Virginia.

She approached Shaun Wright, film faculty at JMU's School of Media Arts & Design (SMAD) to collaborate. Shaun Wright has over 15 years of production and post-production experience and has worked on projects for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Discovery Docs, Animal Planet, TLC, History Channel, and HGTV.

Shaun has a love for food history documentaries and was instantly intrigued with WIOO's global movement. We are excited to partner with JMU's SMAD program to share the stories of our strong and inspiring women from across the globe.

The first episode was released on Monday, February 15. Every Monday we will meet a new olive oil woman. There are 15 chapters that are ready for the first season, and we are already working on the second, for which we will interview 15 more women.

The JMU team seeks to show a variety of approaches and fields of women in the olive oil sector, so the list includes different nationalities, ages, specializations, etc.

Our goal is to continue with this collaboration so that each quarter we can learn more about our WIOO participants.
